14-year-old Bangladeshi, Hena Begnum, was "raped" by her married cousin, who is an adult. After the incident, the rapist and members of his immediate family, were said to have beat her up. Shortly after, a village cleric decreed, under Sharia Law, Begnum was to receive 100 lashes. The young girl died several days later in the hospital, in an incident that has resulted in the arrest of four men.

Once again, it is disheartening and upsetting to see how Muslim women are treated by some in various parts of the world. The "honor killings" need to stop. Muslim women are human beings just like everyone else and deserve the right to make up their own minds and be their own person.
