2008 U.S. Presidential Debate 2

Debate 2008 Take Two

October 7. 2008

Barack Obama (Democrat)

I watched the second 2008 presidential debate tonight and it was better than the first one. Republican presidential nominee, John McCain, performed better in this debate than he did the first one and did not lose his temper. During the last debate Mr. McCain appeared to want to wrestle Mr. Obama.

Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama, maintained his level of assertiveness and continued to successfully utilize strong refutation skills. McCain did, however, bring back the much ridiculed "You don't understand" phrase he patronizingly used against Obama in the first debate. It became the punchline on many talk shows and during various news blurbs. McCain seemed upbeat throughout the Town Hall meeting debate, but Obama seemed somber, serious and at times sad.

World Team Player

The U.S. government needs to be more of a world team player in discussing its plans with other nations, especially when it involves them, so as not to burn any more bridges than George W. Bush has during his 8 years in office. Obama has been increasing his military stance in the area of his plans for apprehending Osama Bin Laden.

McCain came across as war loving, which disturbs me. I am sure he would go into office and expand the Iraq war, getting the nation into a greater, ever increasing, dangerous situation, with a region the U.S. government does not understand.

Manage America, Not The World

Last week's debate featured Democrat, Joe Biden (left) and Republican, Sarah Palin (right)

Throughout the debate, the presidential nominees spoke about foreign policy and what they would do in this regard, Mr. McCain moreso than Mr. Obama. However, I found it a bit distressing for this simple, yet complicated reason, America is experiencing unprecedented economic problems at home. This is not the time for that. Actually, days of global empires are currently over and that goes for every nation.

Would it not be the best course of action for Washington to focus the entire government's time, budget and energy on repairing, rebuilding and improving America, rather than getting into so many conflicts in the world, excluding capturing Osama.

Common sense would dictate that the U.S. government cannot continue to enforce a global policy, when the nation has been falling to its lowest financial ebb. The descent is not over and the more the government's agenda is focused on the international community and not in the domestic sphere, is the more out of reach recovery shall be.

The government's priorities are all wrong and they are not listening to the American people, deciding they are smarter than everyone else in the nation, which is untrue. If the government was that smart, America wouldn't be going broke in spite of the fact the nation's citizens paid enough taxes to make it the richest nation on the earth.

The problem is the American people are like the hard working husband and the government in Washington is the high maintenance bimbo wife that blew his paycheck at the mall. Yes, that's right, I called the current government bimbos.
