L.A. Reid

Former LaFace Records co-founder turned major label music executive, Antonio "L.A." Reid, has been forced out of his job as chairman of Epic Records/Sony Music, on allegations he sexually assaulted a secretary and embezzled money from the company. 60-year-old Reid, who has been married to Erica Reid for the past 17-years and has 4 children from three relationships, has been sued by his secretary for sexual harassment.

Sony Music released a statement regarding Reid's departure from the corrupt company which states, "LA Reid will be leaving the company." There are also claims in the public domain by talk show host, Wendy Williams, stating Reid embezzled money at Sony Music as well, which is one of the reasons he is parting ways with the company.

The currently unnamed woman complained to executives at the label about Reid's alleged inappropriate sexual behavior. However, she states Sony failed to stop Reid from sexually harassing her on a regular basis. When the secretary complained, Sony's management told her, "Before you say anything more, think about what that means for you. Just think about what it means." This is the standard Hollywood response to men and women being sexually harassed and or sexually assaulted by others in the entertainment industry.

The Jasmine Brand blog stated of the lawsuit, "The female assistant, whose name The Post is withholding, also claims Reid, who has led Epic for nearly six years, also asked her to lie down in bed with him and give him a hug while the two were at a hotel while traveling on business, the letter alleges. Reid, who is married, also made comments about what clothes he liked her to wear and described her as looking 'fine,' the letter claims."

A year ago in the March 29, 2016 Judiciary Report article "L.A. Reid’s Autobiography Spilled The Secrets Of Ex-Wife Pebbles, Former Partner Babyface, Whitney Houston, The Deele And David Geffen (Among Others)" I wrote Reid was cheating on then wife, Pebbles, with his secretary and singer Chili of TLC, among others (as communicated to me years ago by Reid's cousin in Atlanta). Therefore, he has engaged in this type of adulterous conduct before in the workplace. Reid's impressionable son, Aaron Reid, whose mother is Pebbles, also works at Epic Records/Sony Music, which must be very difficult for him under the circumstances. Sony is a toxic environment and one he should get out of anyway.

Industry men who have worked with L.A. Reid, such as rapper Jay Z, real name Shawn Carter, are known for sexually imposing themselves on people in their work environment. Jay Z has repeatedly fooled himself into thinking he is attractive and women such as current protégées, Rihanna and Rita Ora, want to have sex with his him, though he resembles a camel. Jay Z, who used to work with Reid at Island/Def Jam, imposed himself upon female artists with the expressed understanding that if they did not oblige their careers would suffer and end. Jay Z did the same thing regarding singer turned reality star, Teairra Mari, among others.

Other female stars such as Kesha (Sony Music) and Lady Gaga have complained of sexual assault in the music industry (Chris Brown's Lawyer Mark Geragos Sued For Defamation In Confirming Music Producer Dr. Luke Raped Lady Gaga And Kesha). It is a chronic and terrible pattern of behavior by some in the industry and it has victimized many, who do not want to speak out, for fear of losing their careers and in some cases, their very lives.

Men in the music and film industry are constantly sexually harassing women and men for sex who don't want them. They believe the hype surrounding  their careers. They love to target young, aspiring entertainers, while letting them know if they do not go along with the sexual exploitation, their careers will die.

L.A. Reid Is Being Accused Of Sexual Assault By Former Co-Worker

2017/05/15 - Just a few days ago it was announced that L.A. Reid’s time with Epic Records had come to an end. The million dollar question has been “why?” Well we hear that he and the label cut ties following a co-worker made numerous complaints of alleged sexual harassment incidents.

According to TheJasmineBrand, L.A. offended the alleged victim on more than one occasion. Will L.A. Reid’s Sony Ouster Put the Music Industry on Trial for Sexual Harassment?

May 15, 2017 | 07:42PM PT - Above all else, Sony Music “wanted to avoid another Kesha situation,” says an insider of the company’s decision to dismiss executive Antonio “L.A.” Reid from his post as chairman and CEO of Epic Records after receiving multiple claims of improper behavior and allegations of sexual harassment. News of his exit was revealed by Variety on May 11.

The exact nature of the claims made by a female assistant who had apparently worked at the company for less than a year, and detailed via her attorney in a letter to Sony Music EVP and general counsel Julie Swidler, describe instances when the 60-year-old executive made sexually suggestive comments, though they do not specify that physical contact was made. According to several sources, the company is investigating whether Reid had exhibited a “pattern of behavior” that predated his employment at Sony (from 2004 to 2011, Reid was chief executive of Universal Music Group’s Island Def Jam under Doug Morris, who became Sony Music CEO in 2011).
