Attorney General Gonzales Digs His Heels In Despite Public Protest Calling For His Ouster

March 22. 2007

Berto to the Public: "And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going"

Despite mass calls from the public and lawmakers for his resignation, embattled Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, has dug his heels in stating "I'm not resigning." You ain't the Queen, you don't have a job for life. Besides, you wouldn't look right in a tiara. Mueller, might though...(LOL). Hey, Hoover probably had one to go with his dress...

The job of Attorney General is not an inherited birthright and even the Queen interacts with Parliament and the Prime Minister, taking suggestions from them. To be frank, it's not the US attorney scandal that concerns me so much, as the law gave them room for the firings, it was just done improperly. What concerns me is this abhorrent spying on everyone, criminals and innocent people alike. That is not lawful.

That's what the American public and international community should be concerned about. No aspect of life is private anymore. Your job performance as Attorney General is absolutely poor. It's been one incident after another, where the American people and international community have lost faith in your office and your willingness to do the right thing.

As a matter of fact, you and your co-worker, Robert Mueller, head of the FBI, have shown a great capacity for inappropriate partiality and a severe inability to do that which is required of you by law and in the best interest of justice and the American people, both Democrat and Republican citizens.

Robert Mueller to Congress: I have the right to remain silent.

You stated in an interview that you are going to stay to "protect the kids." It's funny, you didn't protect the kids from Mark Foley. His misconduct and in the halls of Congress was right under your nose. Mueller, your subordinate, knew months before the story broke as well, and opted to launch a cover-up, rather than addressing what is serious misconduct.

If I were in public office in any capacity, I don't care what party you're from, my own or the opposition, if you do something wrong, I'm gonna getcha (within the scope of the law, of course). And don't look for me to cover for you either, because:

a.) it would be wrong.

b.) you'd be making me an accomplice.

c.) the Good Lord only knows what you would do next, thinking you'd gotten away with a crime. As history has shown, slaps on the wrist usually don't work.

Yet, amazingly, you and Mueller knew for months that Mark Foley was sexually harassing and sending sexually explicit emails to underage pages in Congress and YOU DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP IT.

My family and I can testify firsthand that you and Mueller looked the other way to serious crimes being committed by public figures and allowed innocent people to live under serious, vile human rights abuses and incur massive financial loss that neither you, Mueller or the famous criminals you know are committing said crimes can make financial restitution for. God is going to hold you accountable for that.

You have no concept of justice or fairness. You and Mueller are two of the most corrupt, heartless, inhumane, awful human beings I have ever encountered in my life. Your conduct continually shames all associated with you in well documented incidences that cannot be ignored.

Both of you had ample time to do better, but didn't. Your track records show a consistent history of failure that has damaged innocent members of the public. You all have no intention of changing. Here's a long list of articles with people calling for your head, Marie Antoinette, also known as the will of the people:

WASHINGTON — Waving a copy of an e-mail that he said was proof that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales had lied to him and other senators, Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., called for Gonzales’ resignation Thursday.

Bush Administration Needs 3 More Officials to Resign

FOX News - Friday, March 16, 2007

Three members of the Bush administration should do the honorable thing and resign their offices immediately. I'm talking about FBI director Robert Mueller, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Secretary of Veterans' Affairs, Jim Nicholson.

All three evoke the ineffective "Brownie," former FEMA director Michael D. Brown, who was praised until his aura of competence was washed away with the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina...

Now we have learned from a report by the Department of Justices' own Inspector General that the FBI has misused the Patriot Act and violated the privacy of thousands of Americans who had no connection with terrorism.

A New York Times editorial this week demanded the resignation of Gonzales for a variety of reasons, including the FBI violations of the Patriot Act and misusing "powers it obtained under the Patriot Act to get financial, business and telephone records of Americans by issuing tens of thousands of 'national security letters,' a euphemism for warrants that are issued without any judicial review or avenue of appeal...Mueller, admitted Friday that his agency had used the new powers improperly"...

It is not enough under these circumstances where so many citizens of this country gave their support to the administration's request for the new power and authority for the U.S. government under the provisions of the Patriot Act to have those responsible for the program simply say they are sorry.

If the government is invested with tremendous power to protect the country from international terrorism by eliminating some existing privacy protections afforded citizens from the prying eyes of the government, and those administrating and supporting the program fail in their responsibilities as both Mueller and Gonzales have, they are obligated, under the standard of accountability the Army has displayed with regard to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, to resign and spare the president the embarrassment of firing them. If they won't he should immediately fire them...

In Japan, a comparable situation would result in immediate resignations and in earlier times...

In the second-term of every administration, there are people who become burned out or whose incompetence is publicly revealed. It is the mark of a good administrator to timely fire incompetent people. If the president fails to fire these three, he will become directly responsible for their prior and continuing failures.
