Bank Robber Arrested After MySpace Brag

MySpace, the website my internet eschewing mother confuses with Facebook, calling it MyFace, has gotten a bank robber into trouble (I kid you not, LOL! My mom was telling me about a news story the other day and confused the two social networking websites, calling it "MyFace" and I could barely hold in the laughter).

A former soldier, Joseph Wade Northington, robbed a bank in North Augusta, then bragged about it on his MySpace page stating, "One in the head $till ain’t dead!!!!!! On tha run for robbin a bank Love all of yall.” The police contacted one of his army comrades, who identified him.

Ex-soldier pleads guilty in bank robbery

Friday, May. 29, 2009 - A man who boasted on his MySpace.com page about robbing a North Augusta bank in January has pleaded guilty in federal court in Columbia to using a firearm during a crime of violence, a U.S. Attorney’s office news release said.

Joseph Wade Northington, 27, of Roanoke, Va., faces a minimum of seven years and maximum of life in prison when he is sentenced.

Authorities say Northington stole $3,924 from the Security Federal Bank on East Martintown Road on Jan. 20.

He wrote on his MySpace.com page, “One in the head $till ain’t dead!!!!!! On tha run for robbin a bank Love all of yall,” federal court documents say.

Investigators tracked him down after a friend, Shawn Daniels, who served with him in the Army, identified him from surveillance photos, documents say...
