Brain Dead 13-Year-Old Jahi McMath Moved From Hospital And Is Rapidly Deteriorating

January 7. 2014

Jahi McMath

Brain dead 13-year-old Jahi McMath has been moved from Childrens Hospital Oakland, after they botched a tonsillectomy, which led to hemorrhaging, respiratory failure and a heart attack. McMath has been moved to an undisclosed medical facility. The family's lawyer Christopher Dolan stated, "She is in very bad shape. What I can tell you is that those examinations show that her medical condition, separate from the brain issue, is not good."

The hospital had stopped giving McMath nourishment, as they diagnosed her legally dead. She is now receiving some nourishment, but her organs have suffered additional damage. A feeding tube was not inserted due to physical problems. McMath's uncle Omari Sealey stated, "We're not going to play God. If her heart stops beating while she's hooked to the ventilator, we can accept that." However, he stated, "She is safely where she needs to be" and is still alive.

What I'm appalled at is the heartless way some, not all, are reporting and writing about this story on news sites and a blog. It shows a tremendous amount of disrespect and lack of compassion for her family and others in the same predicament. You may think it makes you look brilliant, astute and well educated, but you are coming off as cruel, callous and without compassion.

It's sad when people lose their humanity. No, I'm not talking about rapidly declining Jahi, I'm referring to the cold, clinical people, who have taken it upon themselves to administer her family a tough dose of their truths, basically telling them to get over it and pull the plug. Whether they want to believe it or not, Jahi is still alive, albeit, she is dying.

If all support is terminated and then Jahi completely goes, mind and body, then McMath has truly passed away. Until then, do her family and people with hearts a favor and back away from your keyboards. We don't need to read the proof that your parents have failed to instill a sense of humanity and compassion in you. Those of you guilty of this will ask how dare I speak about your  parents, but how dare you speak about McMath's parents. Consider it a dose of your own medicine - now leave her family alone.
