Britain Returns Turks And Caicos To Colony

August 17. 2009

Michael Misick and Lisa Raye

Oh dear! People were hoping this would not happen, but due to systematic financial abuses by former Turks and Caicos Premier, Michael Misick, Britain has reclaimed the island as a colony, in a bid to return constitutional and governmental order.

Misick and his wife, actress Lisa Raye, who are divorcing, lived lavishly on the people's dime, depleting $20,000,000 in taxpayer funds.

Turks and Caicos are lovely islands that depend largely on tourism to boost its economy. Therefore, they cannot afford any government waste in the area of spending.

Hopefully, this mess will be sorted and one day the island will receive its independence.

UK to run Turks and Caicos isles

Published: August 15 2009 03:00 | Last updated: August 15 2009 03:00 - Britain has assumed control of the Turks and Caicos Islands, a British overseas territory in the Atlantic, amid allegations of corruption.

The Foreign Office said it would suspend the local government for up to two years while the islands' affairs were restored to "good order".

The action came after the failure of a legal challenge this week by former premier Michael Misick in the UK Court of Appeal. Mr Misick resigned five months ago but, along with other senior officials, denies accusations of corruption.

Chris Bryant, Foreign Office minister, said there would be elections in July 2011 or earlier.
