Dwayne Wade’s Marriage Takes A Terrible Turn

January 17. 2009

Dwayne Wade

As my regular readers can recollect, I have avoided the topic of Miami Heat basketball player Dwayne Wade’s divorce, other than stating it is sad.

The divorce proceedings took an ugly turn yesterday, with his wife Siohvaughn, filing explosive court documents, alleging he has abandoned his sons, they fear him and the youngest does not even recognize him anymore. She has also alleged Wade gave her an STD and cut her off financially.

Dwayne and Siohvaughn Wade

Writing web content, you hear things about others, but out of kindness for those involved, you don’t take the rough route with them in your column space.

Dwayne and Siohvaughn seemed like a nice couple. Therefore, I left them alone in my online writing. Some famous individuals don’t seem offensive and mean.

Dwayne and actress Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union is another story. She has a problem. Bloggers always speak ill of her as a chronic homewrecker that is unkind to them.

People kept saying she was a factor in Dwayne’s marriage troubles. As a result, her last few films received unflattering coverage on the blogs and didn’t fare well at the box office.

It doesn’t make people want to rush out to see your movies, when you’re out flaunting your married boyfriend, because a lot of people have experienced the heartbreak associated with adultery.

To constantly seek out married men says you have issues in this particular area that you need to address within yourself. Gabrielle, stop being dysfunctional and destroying people’s lives. It is cruel and unkind.

Gabrielle Union

It doesn’t make you a better woman. It makes you a selfish one. Ask God for forgiveness and quit doing this. The chronic adulteries will bring God’s disfavor into your life, as He stated, “What God has brought together let no man pull apart.”

There are a lot of single men out there. Pick one!

Nikki Alexander ("Hoopz") has denied rumors she has HIV

Another woman mentioned as a factor in his divorce is, Nikki Alexander, also known as "Hoopz" from Flavor Of Love (a show I have the privilege of not watching).

This story is certainly not new, as many a Hollywood and sports marriage has crumbled and or hit rough patches, because of unfaithfulness.

Women are the worst culprits in this. Some women throw themselves at famous men and usually for superficial reasons, knowing they are married. Hence, STDs like Herpes being so prevalent among the famous.

On an everyday level, I know of situations where married people that work together became tempted, with some of them falling into trouble with unfaithfulness.

People are human and sometimes weakness will slip in and cause trouble, but it really is not in one’s best interest to commit adultery, as it will bring bad circumstances into your life, for transgressing God’s spiritual law in this matter. God can forgive you if you ask, but make no mistake, He punishes that sin. It’s not worth it.

It has to be hurtful to know one’s spouse was unfaithful. It’s like a wounded deer. The hurt is compounded when one contracts an STD, through no fault of your own, when one was being faithful.

That has left many very embittered, as one does not expect one’s life to take such a dreadful course. That’s a tough pill to swallow – literally.

While STDs like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are curable, Herpes currently is not. However, there are drug companies working on a Herpes vaccine designed to prevent the uninfected from contracting the disease.

Currently, you can catch Herpes from someone showing no signs of an outbreak. Even with taking medicines like Valtrex and Zovirax, one can still pass Herpes on to others. Therefore, do the socially responsible thing in this regard and abstain from infecting people. It is also wise to get tested.

Hollywood is a very weird place and not what it’s cracked up to be, as it has damaged and scarred many innocent people.

It would be good if the Wades did not divorce and were able to reconcile. Ultimately, Dwayne, you have to remember, she was with you when you were not rich and famous.

When someone loves you for you, when you have very little to give them, that is real. Not those that would seek your company because of your newly found fame and fortune. Think about that.

D-Wade's divorce takes a tawdry turn

Heating up: Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade's divorce from wife Siohvaughn, his high school sweetheart. In legal papers, she alleges he abandoned his children, committed adultery, and infected her with an unspecified sexually transmitted disease. She wants the names of ''all of his sexual partners'' during their six-year marriage.

Dwyane petitioned for the divorce last May in Cook County, Ill. They wed in Chicago on May 18, 2002.

Dwyane's Windy City attorney, James Pritikin, issued a statement: ``These malicious allegations are absolutely false and we look forward to the opportunity to dispute them in court.''

Dwyane turns 27 on Saturday. He and Siohvaughn, 27, have two boys, Zaire, a first-grader who will be 7 next month, and Zion, 1. Siohvaughn moved back to Chicago with the kids last year.

Dwyane's Heat salary is $14,410,581, according to published reports. He hauls in millions more from major endorsements such as Gatorade and Converse. He has a dozen vehicles, including four Cadillacs, four Mercedes-Benzes and a Maybach, court papers say.

The All-Star has been romantically linked to actress Gabrielle Union, 36, once married to former Jacksonville Jaguar Chris Howard.

From Siohvaughn's pleading: ``Dwyane has dissipated substantial sums of marital property including . . . buying his mother a $2 million church; placing substantial sums of money in an account with another woman; providing numerous friends and family members with unfettered access to accounts with hundreds of thousands of dollars of marital funds from which they made substantial withdrawals . . .''

Meanwhile, she says, he cut her off financially.

Dwyane, named a ''Father of the Year'' in 2007 by the National Father's Day Committee, has gone ''months'' without seeing his boys, Siohvaughn says. His ''failure to spend time with them . . . has resulted in the children at times being afraid of him; in fact, Zion . . . does not recognize or know Dwyane.'' She wants sole custody, and support.

She also says she has suffered ''grievous physical, emotional and mental injury'' from the STD, diagnosed in the fall of '07. (The infection is not HIV or a ''killer thing,'' sources say.) Dwyane and his ''paramour or paramours'' are liable, she alleges...

Herpes Vaccine Developed at HMS Licensed for Preclinical Trials

Liza Green, HMS Media Services March 7, 2008

A candidate herpes vaccine developed in the lab of David Knipe has stimulated strong antibody and T cell responses in two animal models of herpes infection.

A herpes vaccine developed in the lab of David Knipe, the Higgins professor of microbiology and molecular genetics and head of the HMS PhD Program in Virology, has been licensed by the British company Acambis to undergo preclinical testing; the company looks forward to submitting an investigational new drug application in 2009.

Called dl5-29, the vaccine is based on a live mutant strain of herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) that has two genes deleted so it cannot replicate. HSV-2 causes most cases of genital herpes while HSV-1 causes ulcers of the lip, mouth, and face.
Under the agreement, established through the Harvard Office of Technology Development, Acambis holds an exclusive worldwide license to manufacture and sell the vaccine.

Genital herpes is one of the most widespread sexually transmitted infections on Earth. Its prevalence has reached 50 percent in some developing countries, where it also may fuel the spread of HIV.

Approximately ONE out of FOUR women in the United States has genital herpes. Symptoms are often subtle, and most people don't know they have herpes, but genital herpes is among the most common infectious diseases. This is why the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has joined forces with GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals to develop the Herpevac Trial for Women.

FOR WOMEN ONLY: PROMISING HERPES VACCINE TO BE TESTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND CENTER FOR VACCINE DEVELOPMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 23, 2003

The University of Maryland School of Medicines Center for Vaccine Development (CVD) is participating in a nationwide study to test the effectiveness and safety of an experimental vaccine to prevent genital herpes in women.

The vaccine will be given to 7,500 sexually active women volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30. Half of the volunteers will receive the herpes vaccine in three separate doses over six months, and the other half of the volunteers will receive a vaccine for Hepatitis A. In this double blind study, neither the investigators nor the participants will know who received which vaccine until the study is over. All of the participants will be followed for a total of 20 months to measure the effectiveness of the herpes vaccine.
