EU Panel Slams British PM Gordon Brown

March 25. 2009

"Daniel Hannan, MEP for South East England, gives a speech during Gordon Brown´s visit to the European Parliament on 24th March, 2009."

Daniel Hannan, MEP for Southeast England, delivered a hard-hitting speech regarding British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s spending, which follows in the footsteps of President Barack Obama and his hefty financial initiatives. The speech was uncomfortable, but truthful

Daniel Hannan (looks a bit like Prince Edward)

Hannan stated yesterday, “You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.” I agree. I stated the same thing two weeks ago, "You cannot spend money to get out of debt." It's just not a sound principle and has not worked for government in the past.

The British government can come out of this recession by reducing government upkeep expenses, cutting down on the exorbitant benefits given to families and increasing exports from the nation.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown

Side bar: what is going on in the Midlands? So much anti-British sentiment from pro-terrorism people. Something very bad is going to come out of there if the government does not clamp down on that.

Side bar 2: Why is the British government giving $150,000 - $500,000 per family in benefits to verbal terrorists, who aren't contributing anything to Britain and calling for acts of terrorism against it.

While, there are Muslims that have assimilated into British society quite well, there are some Muslims in Britain that are actively pro-terrorism and calling for acts of violence against Great Britain.

How can this be a good thing? Should it not qualify as hate speech? After all, Britons are getting cited for calling people names such as "a**h**e" - yet other residents can scream in public squares for Britain to be destroyed in acts of terrorism and say so without legal penalty.

To think, my ancestors, that go way back in British history, loved and fought for Britain and now there are people today, who hate the country and are financially benefiting from it, whilst calling for it to be destroyed. That is totally unacceptable.

The Bank of England and No.10 at war: We can't afford Budget spending spree, Governor tells Brown

Caution: Bank of England governor Mervyn King at the Treasury Select Committee

The Governor of the Bank of England stunned Downing Street yesterday by warning against a giveaway Budget next month.

Mervyn King said public finance deficits were too high for big tax cuts or bumper spending increases on April 22.

The extraordinary warning to Gordon Brown not to blow billions on a second 'fiscal stimulus' came perilously close to breaching the convention that the head of the Bank does not question Government policy...

Mervyn King warns Gordon Brown to stop spending

The Governor of the Bank of England laid bare tensions between Gordon Brown and the Treasury yesterday by warning that Britain could not afford a second economic stimulus in the Budget.

Mervyn King threw caution to the wind as he sided with Alistair Darling and the CBI against Downing Street in raising strong doubts over any prospect of another round of “significant fiscal expansion” next month...
