Gabrielle Union Sues Bossip Website For Defamation

June 16. 2009

Actress Gabrielle Union recently spoke about suing black gossip and entertainment website, Bossip, regarding a story they posted about her sleeping with various basketball players.

I do not agree with Union's relationship with Miami Heat basketball player Dwayne Wade, as I don't not believe God's blessing will be over it, due to it destroying his marriage. His wife took it very badly.

It's not personal, it's just my view on all such relationships, as they are hurting someone. The same view applies regarding Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz - and the same for singer Usher and his wife Tameka Foster. I wouldn't be much of a Christian if I encouraged something God doesn't approve of and each of them should seek the Lord's forgiveness and restoration.

I did read the anonymous submission sent to Bossip regarding Union and did not repost it, as I don't like publishing stories from anonymous sources.

I think it is going to be challenging for Union to prove Bossip was out to destroy her. Like the Media Take Out website, they print stories people submit anonymously. Furthermore, Union's relationship with Wade is adulterous, in the same vein of the anonymous story.

Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union

It's going to be difficult to prove defamation, as Union's reputation has taken a beating in this arena, prior to the Bossip story and in easily demonstrable ways, not difficult to illustrate in court.

Making her look like the bimbo to end all bimbos, via the anonymous story, wasn't particularly kind and a person does have the right to sue to defend their name, but be careful opening that can of worms, because if a pitbull lawyer starts digging in her sexual past that case could get ugly and embarrassing really fast. That's just how some lawyers work.

What if they bring up Union's married ex-boyfriend, basketball player Jason Kidd. Add him to current married beau, Dwayne Wade and a no-nonsense lawyer will call that a pattern of conduct in an attempt to affirm the Bossip story.
