Iranian Women's Rugby Team Is Overdressed

August 2. 2010

Iranian Women's Rugby Team

The Iranian women's rugby team played a match in Europe last week and were medically overdressed, in clothing that will promote heat strokes and other maladies in warm weather.

In Islam, men are allowed to wear whatever they choose, but women are forbidden to wear clothes that exposes their bodies in any measure, save for the fingers and upper portion of the face.

If they insist the team should wear such extensive clothing, they should consider switching to a very light, breathable material such as nylon or lycra, as heavy leggings, turtlenecks and head coverings, are medically unsafe, for sports played in warm weather. It also hampers mobility during play.
