Nancy Pelosi Kills Jackson Bill

July 9. 2009

Sheila Jackson Lee

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi smacked down a bill U.S. House rep Sheila Jackson Lee, introduced at the Michael Jackson Memorial two days ago, that would have honored the late pop singer in Congress.

She stated it, "Would open up two contrary views." Not to nitpick, but doesn't everything in Congress open up two contrary views - Democrat and Republican. Try again. Just tell the truth. It's a lot better than pretending. You don't like him and refuse to recognize him.

Pelosi says no to Michael Jackson resolution

At her press conference this morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was asked about the CIA, health care -- and Michael Jackson.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Tex., who spoke at Jackson's memorial service on Tuesday, wants to honor the King of Pop for his humanitarian works. She told those at the service that she had introduced a House resolution honoring him. But it is bound to be controversial. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has been particularly critical of Jackson's lifestyle and the media's coverage of his death, calling the pop legend a "pervert" and "low-life."

Pelosi, however, doesn't want to bring it up for a vote. She says a resolution honoring Jackson would be counterproductive because it "would open up two contrary views."...
