"Barack Obama orders 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan"

 

Based on declining poll numbers, public feedback sections and basic chatter on the streets, the American people are not happy with President Barack Obama's decision to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan, to fight a futile war. Obama has pledged that after sending the additional troops, the war will be wrapped up by 2011, one year before the Presidential elections. This is a bad idea and it shall become his Waterloo.

Due to the political, social and military dynamic that exists in the Middle East, the U.S. Army is in for a terrible time with this renewed mission, which should have been ended, not rebooted. Islamic extremists will strengthen their resolve and many lives will be lost as a result, which is horrible. The U.S. and British militaries need to leave the region and deal with terrorism in a productive manner, more conducive to and in accordance with the preservation of human life. 

Obama Approval on Afghanistan, at 35%, Trails Other Issues

Decline from 49% in September far exceeds that for other issues and for approval more broadly

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans are far less approving of President Obama's handling of the situation in Afghanistan than they have been in recent months, with 35% currently approving, down from 49% in September and 56% in July.

Obama Orders 30,000 Troops to Afghanistan; Withdrawal to Begin July 2011

VOA News 01 December 2009 - U.S. President Barack Obama is ordering some 30,000 more American troops to Afghanistan, starting in early 2010.

In his highly anticipated speech on his new war strategy, President Obama said the United States did not "ask for this fight," saying that the war started in response to the al-Qaida terror attacks that killed nearly three-thousand people.

He said the terror group's base of operations was in Afghanistan, and members of the terrorist network were harbored by the Taliban, which he described as a "ruthless, repressive and radical movement." ...
