Ohio Judges Continue Their Corruption Streak

My Sympathies To The People Of Ohio

August 21, 2007

As if the Elsebeth Baumgartner case in Ohio wasn't bad enough click here, now comes news of another dirty judge in Ohio, Judge John Plough, arresting a public defender...wait for it...for not being prepared.

Said judge only gave the guy one day to prepare for the case. Who were they stitching up this time that they only gave the defender one day to prepare (see Baumgartner story again for further reference).

Because when your life and freedom are at stake, as a defendant, you'd want the judge to give your public lawyer as little time as possible to prepare your defense. Not! These judges are crazy.

What kind of judges are these. You mess around and have a burrito for lunch, accidentally burp in court and you'll be looking at a life sentence for disturbing the peace and contempt of court.

It's not the first time this judge has done this. He recently had another lawyer arrested on foolishness as well. Can you say abuse of power.

No wonder there's so much corruption in the Judiciary. Foolishness and corruption like this abounds. These judges are abusing litigants and jurists left, right and center in violation of the law of the land, also known as a crime.

Like I wrote last week click here, this is why so many Americans are in jail - 2.3 million people to be exact.

Many of them telling anyone who will listen that they are innocent, then later DNA testing and other evidence surfaces and proves that they were telling the truth all along and didn't commit the crimes they were accused of and jailed for, losing precious years of their lives to prison.

When these judges aren't taking bribes, they are locking people up for no good reason. It looks bad. It's a disgrace. The justice system needs to get its act together.

Judge Has Unprepared Lawyer Arrested

Ohio Judge Sparks Outrage for Ordering Public Defender Arrested

An Ohio judge angered state and national defense lawyers after he had a public defender arrested for being unprepared for trial.

Portage County Judge John Plough had assistant public defender Brian Jones arrested for contempt of court last week after Jones refused to begin a misdemeanor assault trial because he said he was unprepared. Jones was assigned to the case one day earlier...

"Asking a lawyer to go to trial without preparation is like asking a doctor to perform surgery before diagnosing the patient," she said.

The Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers has also intervened.

"The defense bar has been outraged," said Friedman. "Anyone who's heard of this matter has been outraged."

This is not the first time that Plough has come under fire. Earlier this year he reportedly had another public defender arrested for refusing to go forward with a trial, though in a May interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer Plough denied that he had the first lawyer arrested.
