Whatever happened to the old days of giving gifts like diamonds A/K/A bling bling. The Queen doesn’t have many pieces – just a few hundred crowns, tiaras, necklaces and rings.

(That was a little joke).

Barack Obama gives the Queen an iPod

President Barack Obama has given Queen Elizabeth II a personalised iPod.

Obama's motorcade snaked up the Mall to Buckingham Palace, and the new US president had tea with Her Majesty, who made her first visit as monarch to America in 1957, four years before Obama was born.

The iPod player was loaded with pictures of the Queen's visit to Washington and Virginia in 2007 and 40 songs from popular Broadway productions, including The King and I, West Side Story and Dreamgirls.

The Queen reportedly already owns an iPod, the sovereign apparently buying a six-gigabyte silver model for $400 in June 2005…

Rare gift

Obama also gave the Queen a rare coffee table book of songs by composers Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart.

In return, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh gave the Obamas signed portraits of themselves…
