Sheikh Shakedown!

May 9. 2009

Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan

A member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan, has been detained on house arrest, due to serious human rights abuse charges, in connection with the beating and torture of a grain trader that he believed shorted him in a financial transaction.

Side Bar: is house arrest in a palace really punishment for a sheikh. He probably uses gold leafed toilet paper to wipe his butt.

UAE officials told American diplomats that the sheikh was put under "house arrest" this week and prevented from leaving the country as the Ministry of Justice conducts a criminal investigation of the incidents on the videotape, ABC News reported today. The government has not released any information about the detention...
