Metal Price Falls Lower Than During The Depression

When gauging the state of an economy, analysts look to past trends and benchmarks to determine where the current situation lays. Economists have stated today that metal prices have fallen further this year than during the great depression.

The U.S. state of California is also facing bankruptcy in two months. In other news, economists believe the current U.S. financial crisis will be long and deep.

Metal prices fall further than during Great Depression

The price of key industrial metals has fallen further over the last four months than occurred during the worst years of Great Depression between 1929 and 1933, according to research by Barclays Capital.

The state of California is facing bankruptcy by February, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger warned today, as analysts claimed the country has already been in a recession for a year.

Wall Street convulsed at the news yesterday, plunging nearly 680 points.

With the economic pain likely to stretch well into 2009, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Monday he stands ready to lower interest rates yet again and to explore other rescue or revival measures.
