The Metropolitan Police To Establish A Violent Crime Task Force To Battle Acid Attacks, Knife And Gun Crime

April 6. 2018

Cressida Dick

Yesterday, Scotland Yard chief, Cressida Dick, announced the Metropolitan Police and Scotland Yard will establish a gang task force, to tackle London's rising crime problem (knives, guns and acid attacks). It will be called the "Violent Crime Task Force." I wrote about this crime topic most recently 2-days ago (British Prime Minister Theresa May And London Mayor Sadiq Khan In Danger Of Losing Election Votes). As stated previously on this site and Twitter a gang task force is needed.

Yesterday, seven people were stabbed in London, England. Six of them were teens in conduct that is gang related. Yesterday, a 17-year-old girl, Tanesha Melbourne, was shot dead in London. The shooter aimed for her heart (which I discussed on the site 2-days ago regarding the murders in London largely being committed by young gang members, who are aiming for the throats or hearts of victims to ensure the kill: British Prime Minister Theresa May And London Mayor Sadiq Khan In Danger Of Losing Election Votes).

Newspapers reported Melbourne's killing was gang related and a revenge attack over a rapper in a rival gang being beaten up. That is alarming. She did not deserve to lose her life. Young women need to stop dating or associating with gang members. Just because they spend money on you, have a flashy car and dress in expensive clothes does not mean you will be safe. You are putting your life in jeopardy moving in those circles.

None of this is the norm for Britain, especially where teens and adolescences are concerned. As stated yesterday, the government needs to round-up these gang members in surprise raids and imprison them on organized crime and conspiracy charges. They can't be allowed to do this to the city. If people do not appreciate their freedom via following the law, they must face rehabilitation behind bars for the safety of the public. You can't let a handful of people hold the city hostage with crime.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan

As stated 2-days ago, some on social networking are blaming it on London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, who was elected 2-years-ago, being Muslim, but I don't think that is the root of the problem. Some on British news radio stations are stating the crime problem began 2-years ago (which it did) and the only thing I can think of that occurred at that time is Brexit. However, I can't compute how Brexit would spark a crime spike.

In my opinion, the crime surge traces back to the decision at the end of 2015 to cut 8,000 police jobs, which I warned against in my article over 2-years ago (Metropolitan Police Cuts To Leave 8,000 Officers Unemployed (But Can Be Avoided)). There has been less of a police presence on the streets of London and it has emboldened gangs.

The last time I was in London was late December 2015. You could safely walk the streets to go shopping, walking for exercise or attending a public event, all without a problem, even at night. Imagine my dismay at reading the flood of stories coming out in the press regarding what has happened in the past 2-years regarding the crime spike.

My tweets from last year stating London needs a gang task force

I'm not criticizing London for having a crime problem, as many cities and nations of the world have such issues. However, London did not have that problem before and it's a shame this has happened. Secondly, unlike many nations with a crime problem, Britain has the money to fix it. I am all for budget cuts, but not when it comes to policing or helping the disabled and the poor, as I have repeatedly stated on the site. Cutting police presence under a budget can prove to be a bit of false economy, if crime surges and it impacts tourism (and tourism to London has gone down). You need to fix the problem then announce the city is safe.

I genuinely think the major obstacle in most nations of the third world that have a crime problem is the lack the funds to pay for adequate policing, police vehicles, blanket CCTV camera coverage, surveillance blimps, wiretapping of criminals and where needed and for a time diverting a portion of the military to establish their presence in troubled areas to keep the peace. However, as stated above, London can financially afford to fix this and need to make the funds available to do so.

Britain also closed a number of police stations under a schedule of budget cuts. However, I do not think that is a big problem. Officers can get their assignments from headquarters and spend their shifts fighting crime by patrolling the streets and responding to emergency calls from dispatch. And once again, the officers that were let go need to be rehired and given the freedom to do "stop and search." I don't think "stop and search" is a bad thing. I've seen it done. It will stop some people from carrying knives and weapons knowing they can be summarily searched.

I have observed the conduct of teens and adolescence in the presence of police on the streets of London and they usually behave in an appropriate manner when they see a cop. Another factor is most criminals think twice about breaking the law when they see a police officer(s) present, as it presents a challenge in behaving in a lawless manner, knowing they will likely be caught and arrested.

Scotland Yard chief Cressida Dick announces new 120-strong task force that will use 'Al Capone' tactics to go after gangs behind London's murder surge

Comes after 18-year-old killed in Hackney becoming the 55th death in the capital this year

Published: 09:18 EDT, 5 April 2018 | Updated: 13:43 EDT, 5 April 2018 - The head of Scotland Yard has pledged to use 'Al Capone' tactics to tackle the rise in knife and gun related murders. Cressida Dick today said a new task force of 120 officers would target the most violent gang member to remove them from London streets 'for any crime'.

The police chief made reference to the notorious 1920's Chicago-gangster - who was finally foiled on tax evasion, after evading numerous murder charges - as an example of how potential violent criminals would be brought down. The Met Commissioner spoke out after two more murders in London, bringing the total in the capital this year to 55.

Two boys both aged 17 were arrested on suspicion of murdering the computer programming student, who was helped by an off-duty paramedic until the London Ambulance Service arrived. It later emerged a Facebook profile under Israel's name showed he was friends with Tanesha Melbourne, 17, who was shot dead on Monday evening in Tottenham, North London.

It came after an 18-year-old man was killed in Hackney, after stumbling towards police officers with knife wounds. While in neighboring Clapton, a man in his fifties died after being punched in a row at a betting shop. Ms Dick said the Violent Crime Task Force would target the most violent individuals in crime 'hotspots'.

Explaining the strategy for reducing the current crime wave sweeping London that has seen dozens of teenager stabbed to death in the capital, Ms Dick said there would be a visible increase in officers on the street. She said they would be 'even more pro-active', as well as police flooding hotspots to disrupt potential gang violence before it begins...

Tanesha Melbourne, 17, was leaving her boyfriend's home and standing with a friend who was thought to have been the intended target. Youth worker Tanesha Melbourne, 17, died in a drive-by shooting in Tottenham, north London, on Monday night. The teenager was leaving her boyfriend's home and standing with a friend who was thought to have been the intended target.

According to friends, Tanesha may have been shot by the WG (Wood Green) gang in retaliation for a beating carried out by its rivals NPK (Northumberland Park). The latest round of tit-for-tat gang attacks began when three men launched a videoed attack on a victim in the Tinseltown diner in Farringdon, London...
