The photos and clips I've seen of the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics in London, England last night was wonderful (I was working, but will catch the rerun online). The performers, sets, costumes, lighting and fireworks were great. The entire theme was truly very British. They put on a great show. Thankfully, the contingency plans I suggested regarding the sheep in the show, ahem, farting fireworks, was premature: 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony In London Aims To Dazzle The World (wink).

The Queen parachuting into the stadium (I wish, it was actually a stuntman, but funny nonetheless)

The scene of the Queen parachuting into the Olympics from a helicopter with James Bond was hilarious. I laughed 'til I cried when I saw that. It was all in good fun. Here's another smashing picture from the event last night featuring the Olympic rings:
