8-Year-Old Special Needs Boy Arrested At Florida School For Hitting Teacher (Videos)

August 10. 2020

A forthcoming federal lawsuit is scheduled to be filed against police in Key West, Florida and a local school, for the arrest of an unnamed 8-year-old boy with special needs. The mentally disabled child refused to sit properly in the cafeteria. This prompted a teacher to approach and speak to the child about his physical stance. The boy responded by cursing at the teacher and punching her in the chest.

The teacher telephoned police, who detained, frisked, cuffed and arrested the tearful boy. He was taken to the police station and charged with felony battery. This all occurred despite the fact the school and police knew of the boy's mental disability. This case is definitely worthy of a big lawsuit. The child is being represented by famed civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump.

This is not the first time police in Florida have landed in trouble for arresting children. The television news program "CBS This Morning" ran a piece on police in Florida arrested six and eight year old children.

Video Shows Key West Police Handcuffing 8-Year-Old Boy

Published 5 hours ago - Police in Key West are facing criticism after new footage has surfaced showing officers handcuffing an 8-year-old boy. The incident happened at a school in December 2018, but police bodycam footage was recently posted on social media by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who called the incident involving the child who he said has special needs "unbelievable."

According to an incident report, officers were called to the school because the boy allegedly hit his teacher. The incident began in the lunch room when the child wouldn't sit properly and the teacher asked him several times and he refused, then he punched her in the chest and cursed at her, the report said.

In the video, officers made the boy stand against a cabinet and begin to frisk him before placing him in handcuffs. "You know where you're going?" one officer asks the boy. "You're going to jail."...
