Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Calls For Death

June 19. 2009

Video: Iran Presidential Election - Bloomberg Bloomberg

In the face of massive protests, sparked by voter fraud that disenfranchised many in Iran, the nation's head honcho, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, denounced the West and told distressed and defrauded Iranians, the questionable vote stands, leaving President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in office.

Iranians shouted on their rooftops in defiance of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Others chanted in the streets, "Death to the Dictator!"

In a massive insult to the West, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei yelled out during a speech, "Death to America, death to Israel and death to Britain" the latter he singled out as evil. Oh no he didn't!

Britain has taken in millions of Muslims, granting them extraordinary rights in Blighty. Britain has fed, clothed and sheltered many Muslim men, women and children, in great comfort and at great expense to the Treasury (billions).

I saw countless Muslims all over Britain, as well as many people from other walks of life, blended among the natives. Britain is quite civil.

Furthermore, such speech, calling for the death of nations, who have a right to exist, just like you do, is not peaceful or humane. It is such speech that disheartens the world, not out of fear, but disappointment that we cannot strike a peaceful balance and coexist.

Foreign Office protests after Khamenei singles out 'evil Britain'

Ambassador called in over Iranian supreme leader's warning that Britain is the most evil of foreign powers

'God is Great' echoes throughout Tehran

Jun 19 02:19 PM US/Eastern - TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Tehran residents are climbing to their roofs and crying "God is Great!" in open defiance of Iran's supreme leader.

The late-night cries of "Allahu Akbar!" and "Death to the Dictator!" throughout Tehran Friday are a direct challenge to the cleric who has ultimate authority under Iran's constitution. They come hours after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned opposition supporters to stop protesting the June 12 election they say was rigged in favor of hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi borrowed the tactic from the 1979 Islamic Revolution led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who asked Iranians to show unity against the U.S.-backed shah by shouting "Allahu Akbar" from their roofs.
