Couple Who Stole $400,000 In Donations From A Homeless Veteran Will ‘Likely Be Indicted’

September 11. 2018

Johnny Bobbitt Jr, Mark D'Amico and Kate McClure

Reports indicate Kate McClure and her live-in boyfriend, Mark D'Amico, will “likely be indicted” for using homeless veteran, Johnny Bobbitt Jr, to raise $400,000 through the Go Fund Me website, then spending the majority of the money on themselves. Bobbitt Jr sued the couple over spending the bulk of the money they raised in his name.

I've stated from the beginning of the scandal (as written on my Twitter page) that the couple should be prosecuted. They have defrauded Bobbitt Jr, damaged Go Fund Me's name (who are going to compensate Bobbitt Jr and issue refunds) and shaken the public's faith in humanity

The couple has refused to give a proper accounting of the money that has been spent. This prompted a judge to order that a BMW bought by the couple out of the funds be seized. The judge also gave police clearance to seize financial documents in the couple's home as a part of the investigation. That is often a precursor to criminal charges. It should be noted, D'Amico has a gambling habit and it could account for where some of the money has gone (in addition to lavish trips the couple took).

Indictment 'likely' for couple accused of stealing from homeless veteran

6 hrs ago - Troubles are mounting for the New Jersey couple accused of stealing from an online fundraiser meant to benefit a homeless veteran after their lawyer said in a court motion they will "likely" be indicted and one of them was arrested Monday night on a traffic warrant. Mark D'Amico was picked up for failing to pay a traffic ticket and was transported to the Burlington County Jail, where he remained Tuesday on $500 bail, Burlington City police told NBC Philadelphia.

Ernest Badway, an attorney for D'Amico and girlfriend Katelyn McClure, said Tuesday he had no comment about the couple's case. The latest developments come in light of court documents Monday in which Badway wrote that McClure and D'Amico are "unable to defend themselves" against accusations because they no longer have access to certain financial records...
