David Paterson Sworn In As N.Y. Gov

NY’s First Black And Blind Governor Sworn In To Applause

March 17. 2008

David Paterson

Today is governor David Paterson’s first day on the job:

"Let me introduce myself," Paterson said to applause, "I am David Paterson and I am the governor of New York State." http://www.newsday.com

But what the Associated Press left off that quote was the part where Paterson said, “Thanks to Eliot Spitzer, because if it weren’t for your obsession with hookers, who knows where I’d be. I’d probably still be deputy. Thanks for giving a brother a chance, man. But before you leave, may I have the keys to the governor’s mansion, please.”

Just kidding about that last part.

Virgin Eliot

In other Eliot Spitzer news, Britain's Virgin Mobile has created a shameless, hilarious ad around the former governor’s troubles as "Client # 9" in the U.S. government's indictment against the Emperors Club prostitution ring:

Eliot "Client #9" Spitzer: "I'm tired of being treated like a number..."

AD COPY: "At Virgin Mobile you're more than just a number. When you call us we'll treat you like a person, not a client. Whether you're #9 or #900, you'll get hooked up with somebody who'll finally treat you just how you want to be treated."

The Duke of Westminster

Considering the Duke of Westminster, the wealthiest man in Britain, is thought to be "Client #6" in the U.S. government's indictment, maybe he should start buying up Virgin Mobile stock before they write their next ad (just kidding).

The Duke of Westminster, also known as Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, has not commented on the current allegations.

I've always liked his last name. I even named a character in one of my copyrighted scripts that's several years old "Grosvenor." It's such a pretty district in London.
