FBI Arrests Blogger That Leaked Guns N Roses CD

August 28. 2008

Guns N' Roses

Five FBI agents raided the apartment of, Kevin Cogill A/K/A Skwerl, a former record company employee, for posting rock band Guns N' Roses' unreleased 10-year-old album “Chinese Democracy.” He was carried to court in his pajamas and is facing 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for criminal copyright infringement.

Several weeks ago the FBI interviewed him at his apartment and separately at his job. He wrote about it on his site and it was carried in the mainstream press. People thought that was the end of it, but it wasn’t. They’ve now arrested him.

FBI director Robert Mueller

I think his arrest is hypocritical. Don’t get me wrong, I think copyright infringement is a serious crime. I myself have lost a fortune due to it, and almost my life as well, when it was done to me with the approval and support of the U.S. government, as it unlawfully brought in undue money and accolades to Hollywood stars (and members of Congress do regularly read this site and know about the terrible human rights abuse case concerning me, so they have no excuse). Yes, corrupt, I know.

But for the FBI to bring in Cogill for infringing an album, then let criminals like Madonna who paid an internet hosting company, Digilink, that is somewhat similar to the one Cogill works for, to engage in commissioned acts of criminal hacking, to copy a multi-billion dollar valued, preexisting Copyrighted Catalog, and then use it without permission, payment or credit, says you are very corrupt.

Hollywood has clearly bought the FBI, when they can get them to arrest a dude over an album, but then corruptly look the other way to Tinseltown criminally engaging in wholesale, willful violations of domestic and international copyright law, for undue enrichment, to the tune of billions, at the expense of a black immigrant.

Not a good look. Is there any wonder the infringements have been flopping. Who wants to support something so heinous with their hard earned money.

Therefore, as long as Hollywood and the U.S. treasury are making money off crime it’s okay, but if a blogger decides to commit a smaller version of the same crime, it's time to disproportionately raid the guy's apartment and haul him out of there in his PJs, like you've found Bin Laden.

5 FBI agents to arrest 1 guy, while missing children are not being searched for, much to the ire of their parents, who you've told to go away. FBI headquarters ordered the raid on the blogger for publicity, due to the press attention the leak generated several weeks ago.

FBI headquarters doesn’t endear itself to the taxpaying public, when they utilize such a blaring, un-American double standard. They just view you as bullies that are easily bought and only do your jobs when it's beneficial to the corporate entities you clearly work for and not the American people.

Nice way to show the world how disdainful you are of people’s rights and the double standard with which you do your jobs. No wonder 9/11 happened under your noses, you knew about it in advance and didn't stop it. Your priorities are all wrong.

If there’s no money to be made the FBI doesn’t give a rat’s butt. Nice way to sell out the nation and Constitution…and in front of the watching world.

Guns N Roses

Guns N' Roses have hit many bad patches in trying to release their CD that Cogill put online. They aren't the only ones. There are quite a few high profile groups that experienced the same problem, due to infighting and drug use.

Jodeci

Jodeci for example, could not pull it together long enough to record a follow up to their best selling releases.

They, like Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose, hail from Christian homes, but got mixed up with a bad set in the music industry when they sought fame, then went on a massive downward spiral. They need to return to the principles they were taught by their Christian parents, as Hollywood doesn't care about anyone.

How ironic that P Diddy introduced the then young and naive Jodeci and Usher, to a very unsavory lifestyle that plunged them into debauchery.

“The United States Of America Cares A Lot About Democracy

Johnny and I sat on a pew in the U.S. District Court building in Downtown L.A. as Skwerl sat behind glass, in handcuffs, and still in his jammies since the FBI arrested him at 6:59 this morning.

After five or so other cases were presented, the United States of America presented her case against Skwerl. The proceeding was mostly about what his bail was going to be set at.”
