The terrible pitfalls of adulterous sex strikes again. This is not the year of the mayor. Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been brought up on charges in a 12 count indictment alleging perjury, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. To be hit with a conspiracy charge is no joke. It can draw a big sentence.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and former chief of staff Christine Beatty surrendered to Wayne County authorities this afternoon after Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged them today with perjury, obstruction, conspiracy and misconduct. Kilpatrick said that he expects "full and complete vindication."
