'Growing Up Hip Hop' Returns For Its Fifth Season With Angela And Romeo At Odds With Each Other (Video)

December 12. 2019

The entertaining reality show "Growing Up Hip Hop" is back for its fifth season. The show airs on Thursdays at 9PM Eastern Time on WE tv. The main plot in the first episode involves Angela Simmons and her longtime friend Romeo Miller, who's had a crush on her for many years. However, Angela started a relationship with another man, Sutton Tennyson, and gave birth to a son. However, Tennyson was later shot and killed by suspected criminals he was involved with regarding drug dealing.

Romeo has stopped talking to Angela, as she was not responding to his inspirational texts (whereas her sister Vanessa and brother JoJo responded to his texts). Angela has also been going to basketball games and talking selfies with famous athletes courtside. She also posted swimsuit photos on Instagram, showing her body. In doing so, Romeo stated she has changed. He feels like he doesn't know who she is anymore.

Romeo is an outgoing, charismatic man. He has a university degree, successful businesses and is heir to his dad's fortune (Master P). He comes across as a secure, confident man. However, men on the whole don't understand what many girls and women are going through regarding social networking and the desire to be popular on said platforms.

As a woman, to get attention on social networking you have to be very accomplished/intelligent or show your body. Sadly, those are the two extremes. Women who are scientists, acclaimed authors, human rights leaders, inspirational speakers, popular athletes, celebrities, funny (famous and non-famous) comedians, bloggers and vloggers, get a significant amount of followers (as they are called on social networking, regarding the number of people who follow your account).

Ladies who are not in the aforementioned categories, but seek to be liked on social networking, sometimes become Instagram models, which are women who show most of their bodies and post sexually charged items in trying to turn men on, to gain followers (and ad revenue). Rich and famous men routinely use Instagram models for sex then quickly dump them.

It's not the same for women. A woman will read your social networking, comment, even follow you online, without you having to take most of your clothes off. You could be fully dressed, displaying a nice smile or thoughtful look, and women will follow you on social networking. Women are more  sensitive than men. So you don't have to dress like a male stripper to get our attention. Men, however, are very visual creatures. They respond to visual stimulation far more than women do. Therefore, there's a lot of pressure for women on social networking.

Angela has a lot going for herself. She is rich, smart, pretty and has a career. However, it is clear she feels insecure after giving birth and is seeking validation, to know she is still popular. That has happened to a number of women. She wants to be told and know that she is attractive. She should though, be careful where she seeks that validation. She needs someone who loves her, not a man out to use her for sex.

I don't get why Angela keeps curving Romeo, when the two of them have so much in common. He is smart, college educated, good looking, a believer (as is she), rich and has his own career. Many women like him online. Many women are on his social networking pages expressing how much they like him. He's also shown her genuine friendship and concern. That's the kind of people you need in your life. Not the bad boys that end up endangering you and causing heartbreak.
