Hurricane Ian Shreds Fort Myers In Florida Killing Hundreds And Is Headed For South Carolina (Video)

September 29. 2022

Hundreds are believed to be dead in Fort Meyers, Florida, after Hurricane Ian slowly moved over the city. Lee County Sheriff, Carmine Marceno, stated they have "fatalities in the hundreds" in the region due to the unprecedented hurricane. Some people were pulled into canals and the ocean, due to the strength of the storm that hit Florida with winds in excess of 140mph.

The storm caught many by surprise, as it was projected to hit Tampa, which is further north. However, this is why people prepare for storms and watch vigilantly, because it can change course at the last minute. The same thing occurred in 1992 with catastrophic Hurricane Andrew, which was not projected or predicted to hit Miami, but made a sharp turn at the last minute.

Andrew left Miami with the appearance a massive bomb had been detonated. Homes and businesses were shredded by the hurricane, much like in Fort Myers this week. In many respects Ian is worse than Andrew (even with the improved building code since Andrew). The warm water due to climate change gave Ian an enormous amount of strength.
