Is Jermaine Dupri Going Broke

Rap Producer Closes Restaurant

It’s one thing when a business fails, as that has happened many times to different people, but when it closes its doors and doesn’t pay its employees for several weeks worth of work already rendered, that’s another story. Is someone going broke.

Rap producer Jermaine Dupri has shuttered his Café Dupri restaurant in pricey Buckhead, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, in the southern part of the United States.

His mother Tina Mauldin even inappropriately slammed the restaurant’s employees, stating if they'd worked harder the restaurant would not have failed. That's tough talk for someone that owes them money.

I’m not surprised they didn’t pay them. That’s just how Hollywood types operate. They don't care about others rights or due remuneration.

Janet Jackson

Several years ago, my dad, one of the foremost musicologists in the world, did clearance work on a song for Durpi’s girlfriend Janet Jackson and another artist. He'd decided to give the money to me. Therefore, he told them they could just make the check out to his daughter in Miami. The check never arrived for the work he had already rendered.

He’s not used to that. A man with a distinguished 40-year career, whose worked with and interviewed some of the greatest people of all time in music and sport, is use to getting paid for his time and expertise when contracted to do a job.

How ironic that years later, via Madonna’s misconduct and that of her producers who worked with Janet as well, some of my preexisting copyrights, that only I and the Copyright Office had access to, that is until Madonna started paying her Madonna.com hosting company Digilink to criminally hack into and copy my computers that stored them, illegally ended up on Jackson’s “Discipline” CD. Den of thieves, indeed.

Jermaine Dupri Closes Doors On Atlanta Restaurant, Workers Claim They Weren’t Paid

So So Def honcho Jermaine Dupri reportedly shut down his Atlanta restaurant Cafe Dupri last week and his employees claim that they haven’t been paid for weeks because of faulty checks.

According to WSB-TV, the restaurant’s employees claim that prior to the business shutting down they had been receiving bounced checks and no action was taken to get them fully compensated.

“Just about everybody in the restaurant got checks that were no good” said former bartender Amy Fosse. “Every time I go to the bank, they say ‘Maybe come back tomorrow, there is nothing here’”…

Dupri’s mother, Tina Mauldin, who serves as CEO for the restaurant, claims that all the workers have been paid and the restaurant’s closure was a “business decision”.

Mauldin would take a swipe at her former employees saying that if they had worked harder, the restaurant would still be open.
