Not only does Jay Z not sell out concert
venues, he is also being branded a sell out by fellow
rapper, Uncle Luke (Luther Campbell). Jay Z recently
betrayed former NFL football player, Colin Kaepernick,
in striking a deal with the league, after telling
everyone to boycott it.
The protests led by Kaepernick are in
reference to some police officers in America gunning
down a disproportionate number of black people. However,
Jay Z sold out Kaepernick for money from the NFL, which
has prompted many in the black community to slam the
rapper, who resembles a camel. Jay Z is now heavily in
disfavor with black audiences.
Luther Campbell
Campbell is blaming Jay Z, a musical
advisor for the NFL (I don't know how, as he has poor
taste in music and knows nothing about composing it) for
the lack of diversity or representation of the city for
the 2020 Super Bowl half time show, which is being held
in Miami. They have opted for Bronx, New York
singer/actress Jennifer Lopez and Colombian singer,
Shakira. While both Lopez and Shakira have lived in
Miami, it was for a few years and they did not grow up
in the city, which has led Campbell to state they are
not an accurate representation of local artists.
Campbell, who for years has been very
active on social issues in Florida, especially those
concerning the black community, stated of Jay Z in the
Miami New Times newspaper, "The NFL is basically showing
that 'Aye look, let me go get a token black guy, throw
him out there, say we're dealing with systemic racism
and say we're having him involved with the
entertainment. It specifically said that Jay Z would be
involved with the systemic racism and the entertainment.
Right now that's an F."
