Phil Gramm, a financial advisor to Republican presidential candidate, John McCain, has resigned from his post after making insensitive statements about the current U.S. economic crisis, labeling it “mental.” McCain denounced his statements.

McCain Co-Chairman, Under Fire, Steps Aside

Former Senator Phil Gramm resigned late Friday as a co-chairman of Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign, capping a day filled with controversy for Mr. McCain, the presumed Republican nominee.
