Jonas Brothers And Miley Cyrus Rule The Charts

Teen Acts Top The Charts

August 22. 2008

The Jonas Brothers

Christian teen act the Jonas Brothers went to number one on the charts this week with their album "A Little Bit Longer." The CD sold 525,000 copies in its first week of release.

Miley Cyrus

Prior to that, Miley Cyrus hit #1 with her latest CD "Breakout" which sold 375,000 copies in its first week of release. Teens definitely ruled the U.S. Billboard charts this month.

Miley Cyrus

Last week, I wrote about Jamie Lynn Spears (16), this week it's Miley Cyrus (15) and the Jonas brothers. Oh, the life of a pop culture writer. To borrow a line from the movie The Devil Wears Prada, "Sometimes I can't believe I write about this stuff all day!" Ok, I broke down for a minute there, but I'm back now (I'm just joking).

Nick Jonas, 15, is the lead singer of the Jonas Brothers and former boyfriend of Miley Cyrus, 15.

Seriously, industry sales have been going from bad to worse. It becomes apparent when only a few artists have decent sales while other albums in the top 15 sell under 30,000 copies for the week. Those numbers are low. Bad times, indeed.
