Lisa Raye Slams Misick And Turks And Caicos

April 13. 2009

American actress Lisa Raye, slammed her estranged husband, Michael Misick, former premier of the Turks and Caicos islands in the Caribbean. She is professing her innocence in an ongoing scandal, stating she was not aware of the financial impropriety that was transpiring, spearheaded by her husband, Michael Misick. She also slammed the people of Turks and Caicos, stating they grew to resent her for being American.

Being someone well versed in politics, especially Caribbean politics, I must state, I believe they were both engaging in excessive spending at the people's expense. I watched the story unfold for quite a while and there were reports of the couple going on six figure shopping sprees and flying in her friends from Hollywood on private jets, at $50,000 a pop.

They lived a lavish, champagne lifestyle off state money. Lisa is not a fool. She had to have known that money was coming from somewhere. Misick went into office with a few thousand dollars in his account. The British government has accused him of selling off "Crown Property" to the tune of $20,000,000. I do not disbelieve the allegation, but at the same time, I do not think the entire island should be colonized again.

Regardless of which nation one leads, excessive personal spending with the public footing the bill, does not look right. No man, woman or couple is more famous or important than a country. When one takes office, one must keep the people's best interest at heart and not one's own. If you cannot do that, you are not meant for public service.

Both Misick and Lisa Raye owe the people of Turks and Caicos an apology for spending taxpayer money in the manner they did. They should also be legally compelled to pay fines and restitution to the people of Turks and Caicos.

Side bar: If that had happened in Jamaica, it would have been another story. The prime minister would appear on television the next day on crutches with the rest of the world wondering, "What happened to him?" (Kidding).
