Medical Examiner Disputes Police's Story In Death Of Minor

June 1. 2010

Aiyana Jones

A Michigan medical examiner in America, has disputed the claims of the Detroit police, who stated the shooting death of 7-year-old, Aiyana Jones, was an accident, as an officer's weapon allegedly accidentally discharged outside her home, killing the little girl.

New reports stated this week, the shooting occurred when an officer had a scuffle in the home with Jones' grandmother. Aiyana suffered burns from a police incendiary device that was tossed into the property and was fatally shot in the neck shortly after.

The police sought to raid the apartment located above the flat the child resided in, by storming the duplex from the ground floor unit, to apprehend a suspected criminal. Jones' family filed two lawsuits against the police department after the shooting, for wrongful death.
