According to many psychologists, when a person goes around in public wearing their bathrobe, it’s a sign of serious mental illness. Madonna did just that last week, as she went through the airport.

Schizophrenics and people suffering from Bipolar Disorder, often wear the wrong attire in public situations. Not picking up the newspaper or checking the mail on one's doorstep. They are prone to actually going out in public in their bathrobes, which is a sign of severe mental illness:

In 1985, again overwhelmed with the mental health land trust case, he became delusional and, he said, ended up "in my own little world out there directing traffic in my bathrobe in March."

This time, his psychiatrist admitted him to Providence Alaska Medical Center and prescribed sleeping medicine, which he said quickly helped.
