Future First Lady, Michelle Obama, joked that when she first met her husband, President-elect Barack Obama, she thought he was a nerd and his name was, er, different. Okay, she used the word “weird.”

It’s funny, I never thought his name was strange. But then again, when your first name is Aisha, you really can’t talk smack about other people’s names being hard to pronounce or foreign sounding. I love my name, though.

'First, I thought, what kind of a name is Barack Obama?. My assumption was, this guy's got to be a little weird. Probably a little nerdy. I'd already created an image of this very intellectual image of this nerd,' she said…

But when the pair worked side by side in a Chicago law firm and bit by bit she learnt about his background, they 'clicked right away', she said.
