New York Gay Marriage Bill Defeated December 2. 2009 "New York Senate Rejects Gay Marriage"
The New York Senate has rejected a gay marriage bill,
which would have granted homosexuals the right to marry.
Homosexual singer Adam Lambert Many gay groups were stunned at the defeat, deeming New York a liberal state. The Judiciary Report commends the New York Senate on this decision.
New York Senate Rejects Bill to Allow Gays to Marry (Update2) Dec. 2 (Bloomberg) -- A bill offering gay and lesbian couples in New York the same rights to marry as a man and woman was turned down by the state Senate. Senators voted 38-24 to reject same-sex marriages. The decision came a month after voters in Maine overturned a law extending wedding rights to gay couples.
