Nick Carter's Crooked Lawyer To Be Indicted

August 9. 2008

Attorney Scott Alan Salomon used his legal case work for singer, Nick Carter, pictured above, to gain new clients, dozens of whom he is facing indictment for abusing in violation of the law.

First Lou Pearlman and now this. Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's South Florida lawyer, Scott Alan Salomon, has been suspended from practicing law.

According to a disturbing investigative report that aired on Miami's NBC 6 yesterday, Salomon has been lying to clients regarding serious cases they hired him to pursue. Several of his clients were interviewed for the exposé, some of them in tears.

Nick Carter and his brother Aaron, who both faced misdemeanors

For example, he abandoned a client at the last minute that needed a restraining order, because her husband tried to kill her. She was shown crying at the courthouse.

It takes a really cruel jurist to abandon someone when their life is in danger. It is totally unacceptable conduct for a member of the legal community.

In another case, a lady was in tears, because he bilked her out of $45,000 she saved for her retirement and did nothing on her case in exchange for the massive sum in legal fees. He lied to her, strung her along for months that he was working on it, only to find out he hadn't done as he said.

He also defrauded a U.S. soldier stationed in Iraq, out of tens of thousands of dollars. Imagine that, you're fighting for your country and your dirty lawyer is robbing you at home! He should go to prison for that (but read on for more on that).

According to the news piece, Salomon has been accused of verbally abusing and screaming at his clients, which is not conduct the Florida Bar deems acceptable in any measure. That's a big no no.

Depending on the legal circumstances, it may count as witness intimidation, as he clearly wasn't working in his clients' best interest, some of whom are victims in criminal cases.

He's made many promises to his clients regarding important, sometimes life threatening cases, and unconscionably reneged. Well, he's in trouble now. The authorities are preparing to file "organized fraud" charges against him. According to NBC6 "organized fraud" constitutes "serious felony" charges.

Under such an indictment, his emails, bank accounts, telephone records and office documents will be seized and pored over, by authorities looking for items betraying fraud and bribery. The way this man has been acting towards his long suffering clients, puts him firmly in league for such an investigation.

If discrepancies are found corroborating the charges, he will face prison and forfeiture of all he owns, via the government liquidating his assets and disbursing the proceeds among his victims (clients).

I've read of cases where the government raided down to people's closets and seized designer clothes and shoes for auction, in addition to homes, cars and jewelry, for the crimes they committed.

The public needs to beware of this man. Salomon is not notifying clients that he has been suspended from practicing law, and keeps going into the office to work on cases anyway. The reporter questioned him as he rushed to his vehicle, in attempts at dodging the cameras, regarding his lack of transparency with his clients. Relevant answers were not forthcoming.

He is a danger to the public that has taken on cases all over the nation, with over 70 clients scattered all over the map, many of whom he fleeced out of their life savings, by promising to take their cases, then month after month, doing absolutely nothing, which is unethical and illegal.

His conduct was in complete disregard of his clients' rights and the statute of limitations, which sets a time limit on how long you have to file a legal action regarding your claim. This is very important.

Such conduct erodes confidence in the judiciary, as it will be said lawyers cannot be trusted and are all ambulance chasers waiting to rob and abuse victims.

There are ethical standards governing attorneys that they must abide by. Lawyers need not make promises they cannot deliver on or have no intention of fulfilling. The stakes can get very high to those that do and fail to act in good faith.

There have been quite a few cases this year regarding the police and the FBI indicting lawyers for fraud. While being a shark in the courtroom has served some lawyers well, when you turn that vicious conduct on your own clients, you are playing with fire, your freedom and your fortune.

Scott Alan Salomon of Coral Springs, suspended until further order of the court, following a June 27 court order. According to the petition for emergency suspension, Salomon has caused and continues to cause great public harm. Salomon personally and via the Internet, systematically solicited and/or accepted the representation of individuals in all regions of the United States.

After collecting attorneys fees from clients, Salomon incompetently represented them, or neglected or abandoned them. Additionally, Salomon has been found in contempt of various courts and has been the subject of Bar complaints filed by five state and federal judges.
