Obama Disowns Deficit

President Barack Obama has been taken to task by members of the press for disowning a "Deficit he helped to shape." True, Obama did help create said debt, along with the rest of Congress, but let's not kid ourselves, this financial mess is squarely George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's doing.

To pin this on Obama is ludicrous. Let's not color outside the lines to make some invalid point. Obama will be responsible for his administration, not anyone else's. What people need to focus on is somehow trimming and cutting that $3.6 trillion juggernaut of a budget that is going to breed new financial headaches. Scratch that, not headaches, financial migraines.

Apr 29, 5:55 PM (ET) - WASHINGTON (AP) - "That wasn't me," President Barack Obama said on his 100th day in office, disclaiming responsibility for the huge budget deficit waiting for him on Day One.

It actually was him - and the other Democrats controlling Congress the previous two years - who shaped a budget so out of balance.

And as a presidential candidate and president-elect, he backed the twilight Bush-era stimulus plan that made the deficit deeper, all before he took over and promoted spending plans that have made it much deeper still...

The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated his policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years, even accounting for his spending reduction goals. Now, the deficit is nearly quadrupling to $1.75 trillion...
