Obama Leads Polls, Bush Leads GOP Convention

September 3. 2008

Barack Obama

While Barack Obama continues his two week lead in the Gallup polls, John McCain struggles with the campaign liability that is George Bush.

The Obamas

Remember when I joked two weeks ago in an article on August 14, 2008 titled Candidates Getting Ready For Conventions and stated:

"John McCain will reportedly be joined at the GOP convention by none other than Dick "Shoot'em Up" Cheney. It is thought President Bush will be in attendance as well. There goes the party."

How ironic that a deluge storm delayed the convention and el presidente George Bush decided not to go, after he'd previously confirmed he would appear.

George Bush via satellite (if only he'd keep it up and stay inside for the rest of his presidency)

What? Scared of a little flood rain and 200 MPH winds a little breeze, are we. He later opted for a satellite video message.

The good news is there's only two months left on his disgraceful presidency, that cost thousands of U.S. soldiers and over a million Iraqis their lives.

John McCain

You sir, were not worthy of the post and did great damage to mankind during your two terms, particularly the last one, when you felt you were home free and didn't need to worry about reelection.

He's his own man, says absent Bush in bid to back McCain without tarring him

George Bush today praised John McCain as an 'independent man who thinks for himself' - and added that he knew from experience that Mr McCain was not afraid to speak out when he disagreed.

In an address to the Republican convention, Mr Bush also said the Republican presidential hopeful was a great leader who understood the challenges facing America.

It was a clear attempt by the McCain campaign to balance the value of a strong endorsement from the current President against the dangers of tying the Arizona senator to Mr Bush's unpopular administration...

Earlier this week, some Republicans had breathed a sigh of relief to have the unpopular president out of the way, dealing with Hurricane Gustav, when he cancelled his speech on Monday night.
