Oh No He Didn’t

Bobby Brown Sues Whitney Houston

May 15. 2007

Wow, talk about a turn of events. Bobby Brown has sued Whitney Houston for custody of their 14 year old daughter Bobbi Kristina, and wait for it…is also asking for spousal support from the "I Will Always Love You" singer. Why am I not surprised.

I was wondering what he was doing for money. The level of luxury he was living in with Whitney would be very hard to maintain with no money left from his career. This is what drugs does to people. It destroys them.

While Bobby is now often joked about, when he married Whitney in 1992, he had a successful career. He was very famous for his music. He had several hit singles, sell out tours, multi-platinum records and several product endorsements.

He made appearances in movies like Ghostbusters (1989) and on TV shows, such as two of my old favorites, 227 and Knight Rider. He also made appearances on the sitcoms Beverly Hills 90210 and Family Matters.

Since his New Edition days and his time as a successful solo artist, Bobby made a significant sum of money from recording, touring, music publishing royalties, endorsements and appearances.

Successful Albums:

King of Stage (1987) - 500,000 copies sold:

Bobby Brown (1988) – 12,000,000 copies sold:

Dance…Ya Know It (1989) – 1,000,000 copies sold:

Bobby (1992) – 2,000,000 copies sold:

Home Again with New Edition (1996) – 3,000,000 copies sold:

He made millions, but sadly, much of that money went to drugs and extravagant living. He also started a production company called BBB entertainment with way too many artists in development for that particular situation, bought a big studio in Atlanta that he later had to sell and a $2,000,000 home in the same city that later went into foreclosure and was rescued by Houston in the 90's.

Right before he married Whitney, it was said that she was trying to help get him off drugs, but sadly, she fell victim to it as well.

I would implore Bobby not to challenge Whitney on custody of their child. He clearly still has a significant drug problem and financial difficulties. Enroll in rehab and kick the drugs once and for all, Bobby. Other entertainers have done it by God's grace. So can you.

Bobby Sues Whitney

May 10, 2007 - Whitney's split from Bobby became official on April 24. Bobby Brown says he was "strapped for cash" after his split from Whitney Houston.

WHITNEY HOUSTON is being sued by ex-husband BOBBY BROWN, who is seeking to change his terms of custody with their 14-year-old daughter, BOBBI KRISTINA.

In court papers obtained by ET, he lists several reasons why he was not able to file a response to Whitney's petition for divorce, stating he was "strapped for cash during this time and could not afford to hire a lawyer." See the documents HERE.

He also says he's devastated about losing his rights to see his daughter. Bobby claims he has been homeless at times since the divorce, and is seeking spousal support, as well as child support for their daughter.

His divorce from Whitney was finalized on April 24, with Whitney getting full custody. Bobby was not in court when the ruling was passed down.

Whitney testified that she did not need spousal or child support, and that the couple's daughter could not depend on her father. A court date for Bobby's new case has set for June 15. - Entertainment Tonight
