President-elect Barack Obama There was a power outage on the Hawaiian island incoming President-elect Barack Obama spent his Christmas holidays. Obama swam in the ocean, golfed in decent looking clothes, which for that sport is a coup. The outage only lasted a few hours. This brings new meaning to the phrases “blackout” and “in the dark.” Just teasing. Sidebar: white people don’t use those jokes or they will get you in trouble. Barack Obama's Vacation Spot Hit by Power Outage President-elect Barack Obama's vacation was briefly darkened by a power outage on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Obama is staying in a $9 million, five-bedroom oceanfront house near downtown Honolulu with his wife Michelle and his daughters Malia and Sasha, the Associated Press reported. Street lights in the neighborhood went dark about 6:45 p.m. Friday and no lights were visible inside Obama's rented compound for at least two hours, the AP said. The power outage was apparently triggered by a lightning strike. Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann said three backup generators had been installed earlier and a fourth -- sent by Republican Gov. Linda Lingle -- was turned away. "He (Obama) replied he didn't need anything, was grateful for our offer and was going to put his family to bed," Hannemann said... |
