President Obama Meets With U.S. Bankers

March 27. 2009

President Barack Obama is meeting with U.S. bankers today, regarding the financial crisis gripping the nation, which began in corporate America, due to greed.

Obama is holding discussions with them in the hope of fostering productive talks that can help the nation’s financial outlook.

Personally, I’ve found greedy bankers don’t listen to reason. They will, however, listen to legislation with criminal penalties and indictments attached.

They should be legally compelled to a set of business standards or face indictment. That is the only thing that will prevent another crisis of this nature from erupting.

"Chairman & Chief Executive of the Goldman Sachs Group Lloyd C. Blankfein, American Express Chief Executive Kenneth Chenault, Bank of America Corp. Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis and American Banker's Association President and Chief Executive Ed Yingling arrive at the White House for a meeting with President Obama, March 27, 2009."

One cannot play around with a business sector that has the potential to crash the nation and other countries in the world, causing much heartache and suffering. One cannot use kid gloves in dealing with them. I'm not saying tell anyone off, but lay down the law.

If they do not like what one has to say, what are they gonna do? Leave America? Where would they go?

If you are going to do business in a nation, you should be legally forced to follow ethical business practices or face the consequences in criminal court.

If you ask me, what they did was a conspiracy to rig mortgage prices. It should count as price fixing, which is illegal.

Did anyone notice that the majority of the adjustable mortgages/payments in America all mysteriously ballooned and shot up at one time. Think about that. A handful of people in corporate America set that agenda in the United States and the nation paid a terrible price for it.

They should go to the White House, hat in hand, apologizing to the nation and vowing to do better.

Obama to quiz bank CEOs on crisis

Fri Mar 27, 2009 12:54pm EDT - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama meets with top U.S. bankers on Friday to hash out plans to reform Wall Street, rid financial institutions of bad debts and jumpstart lending in an effort to pull the United States out of recession.

Senior White House advisers said Obama, who has chastised bank CEOs for taking big bonuses and urged them to get credit flowing, was not going into the meeting with a specific agenda.

His message, they said, would be to tell the institutions largely blamed for sparking the U.S. economic crisis to focus on long-term goals to help the country…
