Preventing Teen And Adult Drug Overdoses

November 28. 2009

Gail Blake, 16, died of a heroin overdose

Recently, the tragic stories of three teenage drug overdoses hit the press in London, highlighting the need for a prevention program, geared towards at risk youth, in danger of succumbing to the temptations of drug use. It has become a problem all over the world, as kids seek to experiment or take drugs to forget their troubles.

Some adults in society struggle with drug problems as well. It is beneficial to seek out the help of a counselor and doctor, to aid in your journey to drug recovery.

You need to take that first step, even if you do so privately, regarding getting help for your addiction. Even what is labeled recreational drug use, can result in a fatal overdose. Don't play with your life like that. You are far too valuable. God loves you.

Girl, 16, found dead from heroin overdose in flat 100 yards from her home

Last updated at 3:01 PM on 28th November 2009 - So young: Gail Blake, 16, died from a heroin overdose. A teenager has died of a heroin overdose after sneaking off to take the drug while she was meant to be seeing her father.

Gail Blake, 16, dreamed of becoming a singer or a TV star - but instead became another grim drugs statistic after her body was found in a house just 100 yards from where she lived.

Yesterday the Dundee girl's mother and grandparents spoke of their heartbreak at the loss of the vivacious teenager who they say had only 'dabbled' in drugs before taking the fatal overdose.

Mephedrone menace: The deadly drug that's cheap, as easy to order as pizza... and totally legal

Only now, though, are the dangers becoming apparent. Last weekend, 14-year-old Gabrielle Price died after taking a suspected drug cocktail including Mephedrone at a house party in Brighton. A friend who was there said Mephedrone was being taken by children as young as 11 who assumed it was safe because it's not illegal.

Youngsters all over Britain are now turning up in casualty after experimenting with Mephedrone. In the Durham area, five victims have been hospitalised in recent weeks. In one case, a reveller suffered horrifying self-inflicted injuries during a Mephedrone-induced 'high'.
