Rae Carruth Released From Prison After Serving 19-Years For Arranging Murder Of Pregnant Stripper Girlfriend (Videos)

October 24. 2018

44-year-old former football player Rae Carruth, who was a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers, has been released from prison after serving 19-years in prison for the commissioned murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Cherica Adams. Carruth was signed to the Panthers for $5,000,000. Promiscuous Carruth became angry when he discovered one of his girlfriends, Adams, went off birth control and became pregnant with his unborn child.

Carruth had a bad history with women in this regard, as his girlfriend in university became pregnant with their son Raelondo and he neglected the child. The boy’s mother, Michelle Wright, sued Carruth for child support when he signed with the Panthers. A judge order Carruth to pay $5,200 per month.

When Adams became pregnant, Carruth was angry, as he did not want to become a father again and at the height of his fame and wealth. He did not want to pay child support for another baby. Adams refused to give into Carruth’s demands to abort the baby. Due to her decision to keep the baby, Carruth decided to kill Adams and the baby.

Carruth’s friend Michael Kennedy was interviewed by the police and informed them of what happened in the killing. He stated Carruth asked him if he had an old car that was not flashy. He also asked him for a gun. Kennedy also told police Carruth stated he did not want to pay child support for a baby again and “can’t be having no baby by no stripper” in reference to Adams, who was on the pole when they met.

This is an item I have repeatedly written about on this site. Many men do not want to have children by porn stars and strippers. Men have been known to wrongly demand abortions in such cases (see: Drake). They will claim they were trapped or tricked. However, they had unprotected sex, trusting women who lied to them. They must bear responsibility for their choices.

Carruth paid a night club manager, Van Brett Watkins Sr., to shoot and kill Adams near the athlete’s Charlotte, North Carolina home, when she was 8-months pregnant. The murder occurred near Carruth’s home. Carruth blocked in Adams car to prevent her from escaping. Then, Watkins drove beside Adam’s car and fired four shots into the vehicle.

Bleeding and dying, Adams called 911 and reported Carruth for blocking her car while his known associate, Watkins Sr., fired shots into her vehicle. Adams was rushed to the hospital by paramedics, where she lapsed into a coma. Doctors delivered their son, Chancellor Lee Adams by cesarean section. However, the shooting left the unborn baby without oxygen for 70-minutes, as his mother‘s vitals diminished. As a result of the oxygen depravation, the baby was born mentally and physically disabled, due to brain damage. Adams died one month later in the hospital, as she never recovered from the damage of the gunshot wounds.

Carruth fled with another girlfriend, Wendy Cole, and was found hiding in a car in Tennessee. He was arrested, placed on trial and convicted in the death of Adams and for the damage done to their unborn child. Carruth was convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit first degree murder, shooting into an occupied vehicle and using an instrument to destroy an unborn child. He was sentenced to 18 to 24-years in prison. Watkins was sentenced to a minimum of 40-years in prison.

Now that Carruth has been released, he is seeking joint custody of his son, who has been raised and cared for by Adams’ mother, Saundra Adams. Many members of the public oppose this move. Carruth altered the course of his child’s life with his actions. People do not know if he is rehabilitated and can be trusted to take care of the young man.

Cherica Adams and Ray Carruth

Adams murder is a sad reminder of the dangers of trying to trap a famous man with a baby. While Carruth’s reaction is rare, it is a terrible tale of what can go wrong. Just because someone is rich and famous does not mean they are of good character. People are too often drawn to fame and money, not realizing with some there is a serious downsize.

Carruth is also a cautionary tale of how everything can be taken away. He was rich, famous and had a throng of fans. However, one terrible decision made in an attempt to avoid fatherhood and child support, claimed a woman’s life, disabled his unborn child, sent him to prison for years and bankrupted him. Carruth surely wondered what could have been, as he languished in prison for nearly 20-years.

Life is about choices. Do not let any circumstances deceive you into thinking your rights and life are worth more than that of another. Do not let fame and money deceive you into thinking you can violate the rights of others without consequence, as it always catches up to people in one way or another. Learn to respect other people’s rights, even when things do not go the way you want them to go. Learn that you cannot always have your own way. Make smart choices that are on the right side of the law.
