Relocating Haiti's Displaced

January 12. 2011

Today marks the one year anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti that claimed 316,000 lives and left 1,000,000 people homeless. Recovery has been a difficult, arduous task for the island, but some progress has been made.

For the 1,000,000 Haitians currently living in a tent city, with security problems, due to the large number of people present, it is a tough existence, but they must hold on to hope, as things will get better. They will come out of this.

A possible interim solution is to temporarily relocate earthquake survivors to other regions of the island not affected by the seismic event and if need be, requisition buildings in said districts. As the rebuilding effort progresses, more people can return to the city, if it is deemed safe to do so.
