Stars Making A Mockery Of Politics

Levi Johnston Running For Mayor Of Wasilla

August 11. 2010

Levi Johnston

More pop culture figures are making a mockery of politics. Levi Johnston, the young man that impregnated the underage daughter of former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, has thrown his hat into the political ring. He is running for Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, with no qualification to do so.

Bristol Palin recently broke off her engagement to Levi Johnston, who betrayed her

It was done purely for publicity and shall detract from the real issues and potential candidates that need to be taken seriously, in honest bids at helping the public, via politics.

Wyclef Jean

Singer and New Jersey resident, Wyclef Jean, owes the IRS and local government, over $4 million in taxes and is the subject of a federal investigation, for misappropriating several hundred thousands dollars, of the $2 million he collected under his charity, Yele. This money was solely for the people of Haiti. Angelina Jolie assisted him in raising money for Yele.

Wyclef has announced he is running for President of Haiti, to much opposition from family and friends, such as cousin and former Fugees bandmate, Pras and actor, Sean Penn. He is unsuitable and ill-prepared for the post. He could not handle $2 million in what was intended to be public funds, therefore, how is he going to be a suitable steward of $20 billion in pledged earthquake rebuilding money. This is in addition to the national budget and at the most challenging time in Haiti's history, where the government must embark on the massive undertaking of rebuilding a large, quake-demolished, metropolitan city.

Hollywood really fools its denizens into thinking they are doctors, lawyers, scientists and politicians, without the necessary skill for undertaking said posts. It is real life - not a movie set or album, where one can pretend. So many Hollywood types end up causing injury to innocent people in this manner.

It is plain arrogant and self-serving and most celebrities know they don't have the first clue, regarding the aforementioned professions. Furthermore, anyone taking office during these financially and socially challenging times, better have a brilliant mind or their constituency will suffer.

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston

I was raised in two environments - one of music and the other politics. My dad has been very active in his political party, charities and social work for decades and he taught me much. It was a constant theme in my upbringing. I'm also related to two Prime Ministers, with numerous family members having held other government jobs over the years. My family also knows a number of politicians and government workers, we are not related to.

Therefore, I've seen what real politicians go through and from an early age I realized, politics is not a joke. It determines the course of many people's daily lives, regarding the quality of government services they receive - from the amount of taxes you pay, to where your child goes to school.

It entails tight budgets, setting tax policies and overseeing collection, ensuring government workers' salaries are properly paid, job creation for the masses, tackling crime rates and security issues, emergency preparedness plans, maintaining and improving infrastructure, creating social programs to uplift the public, improving educational standards and schools, fostering healthy international relations and not to mention, reading and signing massive reams of documents that one must fully comprehend and absorb, often in a short space of time. Good politicians often have to produce much on very limited resources as well.

Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska, is being mocked by Levi Johnston, the father of her grandchild, during his mayoral run.

Therefore, the Judiciary Report is tired of celebrities making light of politics, during their ego and power trips, when in actuality, 99.9% of stars would make terrible politicians and do more harm than good. Many celebrities have engaged in financially dubious misconduct and seek to live quite lavishly on other people's money. These are not good traits to have in politics, as you will end up damaging yourself and the public.

True politics is about sacrifice, self-denial, discipline, ingenuity and purpose. Donning a suit and spouting off an unoriginal speech for self-gain, while there are people in this world suffering, needing help, is not amusing or appropriate, as it makes a mockery of the entire political process and its real purpose.
