Suspect In The Murder Of Rapper Takeoff Trying To Raise $2,000,000 Through Go Fund Me

December 8. 2022

Takeoff

Murder suspect Patrick Xavier Clark is trying to raise $2,000,000, via a Go Fund Me account set up by his family, for his legal defense, in being the prime suspect in the murder of rapper Takeoff. Clark was arrested and charged with the Migos' rapper's murder and is being held on $2,000,000 bail.

Thus far Clark and his family have raised $900. I do not think it is right or fair that a suspect with so much evidence against them be given huge sums of money in the form of public donations (I was very appalled when it happened in the Trayvon Martin case regarding murderer George Zimmerman, in in the criminal trial of Kyle Rittenhouse). Where is the money really going to go. That is the question. It's a chance for some to get rich while being formally accused of heinous crimes.

Clark also petitioned the court for $5,000 to pay a private investigator to help him in his defense. The judge will rule on the request. In the U.S. legal system, if you cannot afford an attorney, one is automatically appointed to you free of charge, in the form of a public defender. Asking for $5,000 for a private investigator is not the norm. Either you have a public defender and he uses resources available or you hire a private attorney. It can't be both.

Patrick Xavier Clark GoFundMe page set up to raise $2 million for Takeoff's alleged murderer

Modified Dec 08, 2022 09:39 PM IST - Takeoff's alleged murderer Patrick Xavier Clark’s family recently launched a GoFundMe page to raise $2 million for his cash bail. The suspect was arrested on December 1 and charged for allegedly shooting Takeoff to death outside a Houston Bowling Alley last month.

Clark appeared in court earlier this week and said he was not financially capable of hiring a private investigator. As per legal documents obtained by TMZ, Clark asked the judge for $5000 so that he can build his defense after hiring a private investigator.

The filing states that Clark’s family already spent all their finances on his attorney, who agreed to work at a reduced rate for the suspect due to the high profile nature of the case. However, the lawyer mentioned that a P.I. is necessary: “To properly investigate [Clark's] case and to prepare effectively for trial.”...
