T-Boz Refutes Foreclosure Rumors

...Very Poorly

December 16. 2008

T-Boz

TLC singer T-Boz (Tionne Watkins) went to Essence magazine to refute rumors her she is homeless from a forthcoming foreclosure auction.

While public records list a one million dollar property for her in Jonesboro, Georgia, right out side of Atlanta, another home in her name, in the Sugarloaf country club, went into foreclosure.

She stated things were placed in her name during her abusive marriage to rapper Mack 10. However, banks usually go by the name of the mortgage holder, regardless of who the property is deeded to. Therefore, she is most likely liable for the payments that have now fallen behind on the mortgage.

If she is financially stable, as she stated to Essence, why not save the house and her credit from having a home/mortgage in her name auctioned off in foreclosure.

That's more damaging than having a home in foreclosure. She's made millions in TLC, so why not save the home and her credit from further damage.

T-Boz also stated she had nothing to do with a Craig’s List auction in her name. She addressed the internet claim she was auctioning off autographed photos, stating it is untrue, but did not make reference to the other item regarding her selling off her pre-owned designer clothes and handbags through the popular ad site.

But how did they get previously unseen photos of you, standing with the advertised clothes and handbags, in what appears to be your closet at home, to include with the allegedly fraudulent ad. That looked pretty authentic.

Then, there's the business in Houston, Texas that T-Boz closed called Chase’s Closet. While she is now angry with the blogosphere over the articles regarding the foreclosure, autographed picture sale and the clothes auction, given the fact that these three items paint a picture of financial trouble, I can see how they came to that conclusion.

People aren't wishing financial trouble on her, but as with all news concerning pop culture, it will be carried by someone in the blogosphere. No one is really exempt from that.

T-Boz: "I'm Not Homeless"

ESSENCE.COM: (Laughs.) That is so sweet! Well, there have been reports that a Georgia property of yours is going into foreclosure. Is that true?

T-BOZ: No, I'm not homeless. During my last marriage [to Mack 10], I had a bunch of things that were put in my name. If one of those properties is going into foreclosure then I don't know. Although I've been divorced for five years, there are still a lot of things I'm dealing with on getting straight in that regard. All I know is that the house I live in with my daughter is not. When you pull up my name, my real house doesn't show up because it's not in my real name, because I enjoy my privacy and I'm not trying to have people be able to find me that easily.

ESSENCE.COM: There were also reports of you losing a home in Houston?

T-BOZ: I've never owned a home in Houston. I closed a store in Houston, Chase's Closet, where I sold girls and boys clothing from infants to 12 years. The store is named after my daughter, Chase. For now, I only have the online store...

T-BOZ: It's almost a waste of energy to give an explanation, but I'll just say that the [blogosphere] loves to make up things. I remember that photo and it was on Craiglist.com showing me holding up an autographed picture on the internet saying, "If you come to this address with cash we'll give you an autographed picture."...

ESSENCE.COM: How do you think the rumor began?

T-BOZ: Honestly, I don't know. Ever since the news that TLC went bankrupt back in the day, I suppose everyone wants to believe that we are all struggling, but we're doing fine. And if it were true, does it really matter?...
