The Mother Of Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst Addresses Her Untimely Passing To Suicide

February 3. 2022

Cheslie Kryst and her mom April Simpkins

April Simpkins, the mother of 30-year-old former Miss USA, Cheslie Kryst, has spoken out about her beautiful daughter’s untimely death to suicide. Cheslie jumped to her death from the 29th floor of the Orion residential tower in Manhattan, where she resided. The stunning lawyer and beauty pageant winner was struggling with depression.

Simpkins stated of her daughter, "Cheslie led both a public and a private life. In her private life, she was dealing with high-functioning depression which she hid from everyone - including me, her closest confidant - until very shortly before her death. While her life on this earth was short, it was filled with many beautiful memories. We miss her laugh, her words of wisdom, her sense of humor and mostly her hugs. We miss all of it - we miss all of her."

Simpkins also stated, "She was a vital part of our family which makes this loss even more devastating. We talked, FaceTimed or texted one another all day, every day. You were more than a daughter - you were my very best friend. Talking with you was one of the best parts of my day. Your smile and laugh were infectious. I love you baby girl with all my heart. I miss you desperately. I know one day we'll be together again. Until then, rest easy and in peace."

I keep wondering what happened to Cheslie. Did she suffer some type of trauma in her personal life. Did someone break her heart. She had so much going for herself. She accomplished so much. What internal trauma did she experience that made her feel things were so hopeless.

Depression can also be a feeling that gnaws at people. It can wear away at a person’s resolve. Therapists need to address the psychological side of depression as well as the physical feeling it produces in a person.

You have to be careful with depression. You have to get enough rest each night, lest physical exhaustion makes you wrongly think you can’t go on. You’ll start to count all the wrong things in your life, rather than the right. Sleep well at night. Eat proper meals. Do not starve yourself.

Do not take on too much at work, lest you become overwhelmed and start feeling hopeless. Avoid listening to songs that make you feel sad. Avoid films and television shows that are gloomy or depressing. Enjoy the uplifting music and comedies.

Learn to enjoy the simple things in life. Do not look at all that is wrong with the world, as it is not your responsibility to fix it all. Start to embrace the good things in life. Stay close to loved ones. If you feel you need help reach out and ask for it from the proper channels, such as licensed medical professionals. Pray to God for a spiritual balance and hope within your soul.

Keep life in perspective. There is still so much you can do. Sometimes it seems like you have not accomplished much, but you would be surprised. There are many small things that people do that brightens other people’s day.

Don't compare yourself to others. Work to find peace and contentment within your own life. We all have a role to play in life. Do not look at things as though your role is too small or you have not accomplished enough. Do the best with what you have in life. You can still make a difference. You do matter.
