22-year-old Fordham university student, Sydney
Paige Monfries of Portland, Oregon, fell to her death yesterday
in New York City, while trying to take a photo for her page on
the social networking website Instagram. She was due to graduate
over the summer, but tragedy struck in what is a sad accident.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00AM on
the the university's premises at the Keating Hall clock tower,
where Sydney and her friends went sightseeing. Sydney was
climbing the stairs inside the clock tower, tripped and fell 40
feet to the ground, where she hit her head. She was rushed to St
Barnabas Hospital with a massive head injury that left the back
of her head caved in, as well as damage to her pelvis. She was
pronounced dead at the hospital. My condolences to her family
and friends.

There have been noted incidents of people
falling to their deaths while trying to take risky and panoramic
pictures and photos for Instagram. In 2018, three vloggers
(video bloggers) died while trying to capture video at a high
waterfall (Three Vloggers Die In

also plunged to her death from a highrise condo building while
attempting to take a video for social networking.
